The Centre for the Promotion of Imports from developing countries (CBI) located in the Netherlands is a leading centre of knowledge and expertise on exporting from developing countries to Europe. Its mission as an expert in export is to contribute to poverty reduction and trade-led, sustainable economic development in developing countries. CBI aims to do so by measurably increasing exports from these countries to the EU/EFTA through the augmentation of the entire export value chain. Currently operating across 23 different sectors in 49 countries, the centre’s integrated approach to export promotion includes multi-disciplinary sector- and country-specific programmes and services for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as business support organisations (BSOs) and government bodies.

In over 40 years, it has provided hands-on, business-changing assistance to governments, BSOs and more than 700 SMEs a year, enabling them to raise their export turnover and create more jobs and economic stability.
